ALLWAYS LOOK THROUGH THE TURN!!! - October 30, 2008, 09:59 AM

Well something that everybody, biker or cager, should do saved my life today! I learned to allway's look thru the turns when I started racing and I am so happy to be sitting here able to write about it. I was coming off of Clara Barton Pkwy in Maryland and going up to Glen Echo which is a tight 10 mph left u-turn uphill. I had no cars in front so I set up wide to take the corner a little faster, as I start my tip in I see a huge suv coming right at me going the wrongway! I was able to go very wide and miss the suv by inches and then the car behind me allmost got hit head on also. I allmost became the creamy filling in a metal sandwich! Got near work and just had to stop, relax and get my heart rate down! ALLWAYS look thru your turns and expect the unexpected! Never assume just cause it is a one way street that some fool will not come down it the wrong way! BTW this is the 4th time in my life were someone was coming the wrong way down the street and allmost got me head on! Eveyone stay safe!

Good thing you were on your game at the time.

Allways, must be the new indoor track in MD.

And good thing you were paying attention! Would've hated to hear a horror story about that incident!

Way to stay on your toes.

And I thought the deer was a problem because of the rut.
Btw - I hit a big ass bird in my truck 2 weeks ago (bounced off my bumper).

Trust me I wanted to stop them and drag them out of their car. But it took a couple minutes just to realize what just happened. It was one of those seeing the light at the end of the tunnel moments. Just glad the light did not get to bright!

Glad you could avoid the disaster. On a related note, never take your eyes off the road ahead in the straights. Some MFer left a tire in the middle of a right turn lane last night. Guess how visible a black tire is against black asphalt at night. Yeah, hilarious little halloween prank. Fortunately I was able to do the ol' msf move to avoid it while the 3 or 4 cars behind me hit it.

Glad you are ok. That happened to me last year. I was not so lucky. I did manage to make it past the truck coming at me before I wrecked.
