The "Don't even know what to call this ride" Ride - May 31, 2009, 10:24 PM

Okay, this ride had no set meet time/place/destination/leader/route and/or any semblance of a plan whatsoever! Other than that it was great.

Macdad is hereby banned from posting (trying to post, I should say) any future rides. 0 for 2...that is all. Just kidding, David. (not really kidding)

Ride got off to a pretty good start after Tatyfool was volunteered to lead (again!). Some new faces were here, and a few of the "regulars." I'm notoriously famously terrible with names so I'm not even gonna try.

The roads were still a little damp as we made our way out to Blue Ridge Mountain Road and then headed to Front Royal for Spelunkers (we didn't quite make it).

Had one retar...er, rider go down on Howellsville Rd, some damage to the bike and to the riders ego. (Everyone keeps bashing me about the SV's, but a GIRL on an SV650 hung the offending corner directly ahead of the "crasher"). Doh...that's gotta smart just a little! LOL

After eating at Apple House, Taty waited with the "crasher" for his ride to show up while I took the remainder of the group out to 211. I think we were all antsy and ready to ride after dealing with the crash situation. Nice easy pace over the mountain and back, no cops and no incidents.

All in all not too bad of a ride, after getting off to a somewhat questionable start.

An easy, damp-road filled run over BRM Rd, following Tatyfool.

A few pics:

Taking a break by the river, trying to make the bike rideable back to Warrenton.

flyinsf340 "loungin" while waiting for Nate to search Apple House for his "missing" drivers license (after 10 minutes or so, dummy realized it was in his leathers). See, not only are SV's capable little machines, they also double as "furniture," if you will, during unexpected or extended pit stops.

Got home from the ride, grabbed the truck and trailer and headed back out to pick up the bike.

DEEP did good, he was hanging right behind me on the way home. He was looking good. I told him that if he ever used his rear brake in my presence I was going to rip it off and beat him about the head and torso with it!

Henry could not hang with the looker on the SV?

Target fixation

I do believe you, but for us mere mortals trying to use the rear brake like that is going to result in something that starts with a "c" and ends with "rash"!
