Eastern Rondezvous 2009 - May 19, 2009, 05:40 PM

The weather forecast last week was not looking good for spending the weekend riding eastern TN. No matter, the ride was planned. Thursday's ride down to Parrotsville, TN looked like it was going to be a wash and slab looks like the best way down Tired of riding straight and a hint of sunshine through the clouds we turned left on Rt 60 and headed up to the BRP. Good Choice ! We rode for 15 miles before we even saw another car.

Its not often you can run the BRP over 60

Shortly after we climbed and the clouds fell. 10 miles of where'd the road go?

The clouds lifted, but it got really cold. We pulled in to a rest area so I could put on some Cold Gear and continue on to Mabry Mill for lunch. Mabry Mill is close to Rt58. I had not ridden the section east of Damascus before. I had heard it was a good ride, but found out its a great ride!

Damascus was gearing up for their Trail Days and was quite a busy little town. South on 130 we crossed over the Snake and on to TN91. I rode The Snake back in 2005 as well as 91. This time through 91 was recently paved.

winding down 91 to 321 and some really back ass country roads we arrived at Meadow Creek.

Friday's planned ride was over to Devil's Triangle. Screw the Triangle! 116 was the only leg worth the ride. Brushy Mtn Prison was cool too. Not so cool was the box cutter blade ingested by Kim's rear tire 30 miles from civilization. Fortunately it went down in front of a very nice, older gentleman's house. He let us leave the bike until we could send someone to retrieve it.

To be continued.

Prison was a medieval looking prison. I did not see it of course to busy looking at the road. I will take the prison over the half box cutter blade found in my tire.

Dont bother with the triangle part just do I believe it is 116. Patch kit wont help with the gash I had in the tire there was no hope. But if you have a problem go see Tommy Thompson at Tommys motorsports in Clinton. He was awesome with us. Went and picked my bike up personally and extremely reasonable.

Here is what was inside her tire.

Tommy's Motorsports treated use right. They charged a reasonable $170 for the tire and another $50 to mount it.

The tire issue ruined saturdays ride plans. I wanted to head south to 441 Saturday night turned out to be fun. The group we were with rented the entire place. That evening we had a decent BBQ dinner with a 3 or 4 kegs, which didn't last long, and a good Southern rock/blues band.

This is the first time this event was held at a campground with a bar and it worked out well. Saturday night the rain came. In the past the group would split up and head to their cabins, tent, or area pubs, but here we were all able to stay and drink, play pool and listen to the band.

Notice the chicken wire

Sundays are always the best. Too much to drink, too little sleep and too many miles to ride. The weather sucked and so did the traffic. VSP must have had some enforcement deal on Sunday. I saw no less than 50 VSP. And, oh yes, we traveled all 322 miles of 81 in VA

The end

Nice trip. I'd like to go road tripping with some more .netters. I heard you're one fast dude so I don't know if I could keep up though.
