Everyone knows it's Windy - December 3, 2007, 11:09 PM

Took a drive over to the Eastern Shore to pick up my mail.

Decided to get into the storage shed after I paid my bill, now that the PIN has been re-enabled.

Don't wanna come back later to a dead battery.

Suit up and start my ride.

Gawd, it's flocking windy. Backcountry roads, meandering past the double yellow, heading for the left shoulder. Making right handers way too close to the shoulder.

Wind pushing me so hard I have to brake to keep it going in a straight line.

Be careful out there peeples.

I didn't pay for it, so she can't have half !

If you're being blown around try loosening up your arms. It's not the wind as much as it is you being moved around which translates into a movement on the bars.

Hope that helps.

Go faster. The faster a bike is moving the more it resists turning. Simple physics.

Exactly. Rode to work today and did a 395 trip from Alexandria into DC and back. Stayed low (elbows in and on gas tank) at a good speed to stay more stable. Every time I slowed up (around 55-60mph) it got more unstable. Great day for PHO soup.

The other day I went to myself "How did I get in the middle lane?" The high winds make for more funner truck passing.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, it’s like this…A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven
