Fort Collins, CO and surrounding areas - September 12, 2008, 10:52 PM

So I've been out here for a couple weeks so far for school. When I got out here I used the money I got from selling my bike to pick up a new CBR600RR (I reallllly don't care if you think I'm an idiot).

Anyways, I've been riding quite a bit at some local places. I hooked up with about 10 other guys from cosportbikes.org and we went for a nice noob ride Wednesday. I had a great time and it gave me a better idea of where to go.

So this afternoon I went on a ride by myself and altered the route we took a little to just explore. I HAD A BLAST! I've never had so much fun on a bike. I don't really know how far I went, I rode for a good 3 hours, but here is a map of the road I was on. I'm starting to take it a little faster through the turns and it's one of the best feelings ever.

Edit: Does anyone know how to add a google map route?

I also rode Rist canyon which is to the south about a week ago. Scared the shit out of me. The road surface is partly made up of granite or something like that which makes it quite slippery, so I've avoided going on that road anymore.

EDIT: Pictures here, I'll probably be updating this a lot since I've been riding this road quite a bit. Unbelievably stress relieving.

Nice. Can't wait to see some photos of the new ride and the roads you're hitting out there in the rockies.

Well I'm still pretty new to riding and it's an 08 so I know I'll take some flack.

@ OSD

My camera has no battery left and I've been too lazy to get batteries, once I do, I'll post up some pics. Took some pics of the scenery with my phone today which I'll try to post up.

Some pictures from my ride today. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge. Once again, I had a blast. I think my chicken strips are starting to get a little smaller.

Edit: Also, I realized the passenger pegs were down right after I took this picture and had been riding like that for a good 1.5 hours.

Nice bike and geography. You're going to have a lot of fun on that Honda.

well, if you do any of those roads around golden and up to nederland and what not (40, 103, 119), you will be shooting a load the whole time. I was in a minivan when i went out there, and was ramming my head against the steering wheel wishing i had the bike with me.

just watch some of the slow moving traffic, other than that, get ready for some of the strangest curvey signs i've ever seen.

Yeah, everyone I was out with was awesome. Some of these guys were tearing it up on 500s. They put me to great shame... but, I've been going out just about everyday to the twisties for a couple hours to practice, so I'm slowly getting the hang of things.

@ Buckshot, that's a bit of a ways away, so I may not be able to get down there this season, but I'll try. And thanks for the tip.
