Joplin Road to and fro - December 25, 2008, 11:57 AM

First time going down it and I must say that it won't be my last. Everytime I go down Bristow I always wonder what the hell that road is and now I know. Alot of turns on crests of hills and rough roads made for an exciting ride. Had acouple cars in front going towards 95 but it was still a good pace for the first time on. Coming away from 95 I was able to set my own pace and have some fun.

If you've never been I'd reccomend trying to hit it up.

Word of warning...that road is about as consistent as the weather.

Gravel, poor drivers, and rider unfamiliarity with the road usually adds up for disaster. More that one rider has lost their life on that road.

IMHO Joplin sucks donkey... lol
Bristow is much better for many reasons. Maybe cause I can do warp speed on bristow, i live off of it and know it very well.
Dude if you want to hit some decent roads in the area, let me know. I'll take you out for 2-3 hrs doing all these backs roads. Dont expect 211 up the mountain type roads though.

Maaannnn...I pretty much learned to really ride on Joplin. That 219 shits, son!

Alex ate shit at the hairpin. MADE the turn at at least 65-70!

Loved it. Jumps, cresting direction changes, deer, lost officers...

There's certainly alot better. Just holds a special place in my heart.

Right up the 1 hole.

Joplin is just a fucked up road. I used to drive down it every day commuting from Stafford to Manassas before I had my bike, its fun as hell in a car but not a day went by that some fuck head wasn't on my side of the road tryin to kill me, I've rode it a few times on the bike but its just insane. Would be awesome if there was no on coming traffic.

Bristow rd. is fun, but a fair amount of popo

Like others have said, there are better roads and I hope no one lists them here

+1,000,000 It was the first road I really "railed" on and I love it. I don't ride it now but I always have fond memories thinking back on when I did.

I've definitely had crossed up landings off of some of the crests. Talk about "shit your pants worthy"

We were head towards 95, so it was a left. Myself and Jeff got through, stopped and looked back and didn't see Alex. Wtf? So we sit there for a minute and all sudden......vreeeeeeeeee....

Holy shit, he's FLYING. Got in waaayyyyyy too hot. But he proceeded to make the best turn of his life. Form was perfect. Practically dragging elbow.

And then....

We could see his head turn to the right and fixate on the edge of the road.

Uh oh!

Off road excursion, back up on the road, tank slapper on the front wheel...on the ground.

Got up and rode away!

What a stud.

Right up the 1 hole.
