June 15 seneca rocks ride... - June 15, 2008, 10:51 PM

The weather looked really bad Friday night. I almost cancelled this ride. But when I woke up and checked doppler radar, all the Tstorms veered west and the weather looked crystal clear.

The moring went well, but in the afternoon we kept running into Tstorms and passing areas that just got hit, leaving the roads wet. For the most part, we did OK hiding from the rain and avoiding getting wet.

I call this my photographer conter-attack:

Top of Reddish Knob, just before WVA border... Reddish Knob is the highest point in nothern VA. It's a nice place to cool off on a hot day.

The road to Reddish Knob...

Hiding out from the rain again... I really like this photo:

FYI, Route 3 in WVA is pretty torn up. Parts are just washed out, other parts are being improved.

We successfully avoided the rain most of the day, but on our way back on 66, we got thoroughly soaked. We did follow some SUV and VW Jetta that rolled pretty good in front of us. I have no idea how fast they were going, but they got us home pretty quickly.

Overall, pretty good ride. No crashes, no speeding tickets, 7 riders total.

How have I missed Reddish Knob? It must be an obvious point.

Anyways, where did you guy's eat lunch? I'm really hungry. (Before anyone offfers, No thanks, I'm not craving Reddish Knob!)

Man, I missed this post until now. I don't get over here to the dark side too often. Very nice pics Witold. By the way, you were absolutely flying on the way home. I was keeping up for awhile, but I didn't want to cross into the "1 day in jail for every MPH over" speeds on I-66. You gotta get that speedo fixed, lol. The weather wasn't great, but I still had a great time. Any time spent on the bike riding to WV can't be all bad. Good meeting all the new faces, hope to do it again soon. Maybe this time without the rain.
