Morning rain... - April 6, 2009, 01:11 PM

So this morning I walk out side to check the weather, see how it feels so I can wear the proper attire for the ride into work today. It looks like light overcast clouds, nothing too serious, so I unpack my rain pants and jacket from my bag and leave them at home. As I enter on to 66 west from mile marker 69 I start to see a few drops on my face screen, I just figured it was the tool in front of me washing his wind shield. All of the sudden out of no where, the clouds puckered up and shot all they had at me, I know I was moving fast so it felt worse than it probably was but there I was, being pissed on by God's unforgiving bladder.

I decided against stopping under a bridge because I didn't know if it was going to get worse or better, so I cracked the throttle and sped my way down 66 to 50 West. As I got off on 50 the rain virtually stopped, then poured, then stopped, then poured. By the time I got to my office, my pants were soaked though, my shoes were just short of squishy wet and my Jacket is finally starting to dry out.

All in all, I made it to work safely!

I'm just curious if anyone else got caught off guard this morning...?

In his defense there were plenty of times the weather reports lied to me on my commutes.

Last night it said 30% chance, when I looked at the clouds this morning it looks like 10% chance, maybe.

I guess 10% happened to me! I also had my car at work so I had no choice of riding or not.

My toes are cold...

weather says 60% or better chance of rain, it will be sunny all day. if it says 30% or less, it will f'n pour. 30-60 you will make the wrong choice anyways so just cage it.

I also got caught in the rain this morning, the forcast was calling for rain after 9 am, but I got soaked on my way to work about 8 this morning.
But the bringh spot is that atleast my bike is clean now, and its great out right now, so the ride home will be more enjoyable.

I knew it was going to rain so I didn't bother looking outside. When I got to the garage, I immediately put on my jacket, full rain suit, gloves, and helmet. Within one minute I was already starting to sweat due to all the gear. Walk over to the bike, fire it up and discover that one cylinder is not firing.

Ended up carpooling with the wife and being an hour late for work.

Yeah, Friday night I went to F&F in Tyon's, prior to that I made a trek south on 95 to 123 to 7100 to 66 back to Tyson's for the movie. There were a couple gusts of wind that scared the sh*t outta me. Not so much pushing me around but the conversion van that came swerving across into my lane because of the wind almost hit me in the head with his driver side mirror. Luckly I kept it up and the van slowed down, rolled his window down and showed concern for what he had done to me. I waved him off but it was nice to see that!

There were also a couple corners I was leaning into when a nasty gust came and thew my whole corner off, I ended up crossing the dual yellows but no oncoming traffic... (Wiping the sweat from by brow)

Also during that ride, I almost planted my self in the back window of a mini van. We'll say it was a combined effort of careless driving on both our parts.

I was by water and it was really strong and I was by myself. It was tough riding but I survived. Glad you did too!
