Wink My Blue Ridge Parkway 2008 ride. Pics and vids. - June 6, 2008, 07:30 AM

My crew left from Nova on Saturday morning. My buddy hit a dear a few hours into the trip. Dumb dear, Panheads are forever. After a trip to the emergency room for repairs they continued on. I left on Sunday afternoon to meet up with them at the VA/NC border. 250 miles and some rain but I made it to the campground at 4:30PM. Took I81 most the way and only one cage passed me. He must have been doing 120mph.

We stayed at a campground for two nights and did a canoe trip. Total cost: $34! Dipped down into NC for a bit on Tuesday then headed north on the parkway. Dodged a monsoon and stayed at Peaks of Otter Lodge. Left Wednesday morning and headed back to Nova. I basically bought the Speed Triple for my commute and this trip. It didn't let me down.

Great trip with greater friends.

GS700E

I had one of those. Suzuki was practically giving them away. It was a tariff-beater from the early eighties. I bought mine in '86. Mine sucked. Power was good, handled good, but it vibrated like a dildo with a bad bearing, had a harsh ride, sticky seat, cast handlebars, instrument pod plastic hazed over.

I actually kept it for ten years.

Ah memories.... not all of them are good.
