My First Ever Track Day - October 19, 2008, 05:45 PM

So myself along with about 5 other people from the Colorado Sport Bike Club forums rolled down to this track called IMI. I had an unbelievable amount of fun and finally got rid of my chicken strips. I'm starting to get my ass off the seat some more and I'm getting lower and lower.

Anyways, here are some pictures from the day.

I love colorado and I think it has some of the most beautiful landscape in the country but that has got to be the worst location for a track!
I am glad you had a good time...

Can't really ask for much more for $35 for the entire day. The track was fine other than 2 turns which had a lot of tar on them.

Picture 005 was awesome. That minivan looks quick on the back straight! Seems to be out-running you guys!

Seriously, $35 for the day!?!! Damn, I am envious!

Other than folding my mirrors in so I don't miss a turn looking behind me and lowering my tire pressure, there was zero bike prep. They also have go-karts there so it's not like the track was there for us to use the entire day. We went on for about half an hour then the go-karts went out for about 20 minutes and it kept going back and forth, but the breaks were more than welcome. I got 3 solid runs in from when the karts got off to when we had to get off for the karts, so I was on the track for quite a while.

I wore jeans my intro track day with NESBA. 2 pairs of jeans actually. The pants I ordered didn't show up in time.

What's funny is that they used a picture of me in my jeans in their brochure the following year. There's a post of it here somewhere.

**Can't find the brochure, but hear is the picture that they used. Holding up traffic!! Notice the mesh gloves and harley boots.

Yeah, the track isn't too serious. It was only a couple of people in jeans. Most people were in full leathers. I had a leather jacket on and mesh pants. I mean max speed you could really hit was around 70, but even then you could only hold that for about 2 seconds before the next turn came.

The one or two times I checked my speed, I hit maybe 60 on the straightaway.

For $35 I would do that every weekend just for the hell of it and get it out of my system. Glad you had fun.

Just an update. Got my knee down a bunch of times about 3 weekends ago. You can barely see it from the pictures, but it's down.
