San Francisco Ride - Sportbikerental.com - September 10, 2008, 09:34 AM

I just returned from our week long Global Sales Meeting in San Francisco. I called up the good folks at Sportbikerental.com and arranged for a rental. New 2008 Yamaha R6 delivered to the Grand Hyatt downtown. I rented with these guys last year in Vegas - excellent guys and service. Rentals are not for the faint of heart or penny pinchers ($2500 deposit and w/ delivery and pickup + rental fees = $310).

I rode North of the Golden Gate Bridge to Sonoma/Napa and a bit on US1 (appx. 200 miles total in 5 hours of goofing off). It was a good day - hot as hell inland, R6 is an awesome little bike "track bike", but my old bones, back and forearms still hurt from a ride 4 days ago.

Here are some pics.

Beautiful pics! I'm envious of that ride.

I wish one of those SportBikeRental places would open in the east. They had one listed in south FL, but it appears to be gone from the site.

1. Sho' 'nuff!
2. The bike felt great - nimble, quick, and it felt fine running lower RPMs (6K and up)! I noticed a ton of heat pouring out of every crevice as I kicked the RPMs past 10K. Suspension wasn't set for me so it was a bit harsh - I would hope proper settings would help up front with compression and rebound feedback. Hitting multiple bumps high speed felt bone shaking! And I forgot to have the bike set to GP shift which made me have to think a lot. I'd love to test one on the track!
