Sweeping the Ladies Ride - June 1, 2008 - June 1, 2008, 09:56 PM

Well, I had this long this all written up, then I lost it. Exhaustion + retardation = fail at posting.

It's funny that the people closest in front of me are always worried about holding me up. You're really not. I'm falling back for a reason, taking it all in, enjoying the moo-cows and horsies, pedaling past bicyclists, slowing down rude old bitches in Caddys, watching all of you do your own thing. I'm not looking at your technique or figuring out what gear your in, that's all you and is not on my radar.

Sweeping these rides gives me a distinct advantage...the view. Watching all of the ladies take a long sweeper one by one is phenominal, seeing the newer rides looking to their more experienced partner for encouragement is great, seeing all of you ride your own ride is awesome, and riding & stopping in formation everytime is just plain neat.

Every single one of you ladies did great today.

I love my job when we do these rides. No, you can't have it...I'll kick you in the slit.

Until next time ladies, your sweeper for many more miles to come,

Bexxx

Bexxx, were you kicking an old lady in a Caddy in the slit there near the end? Is that why you disappeared from view? I had a moment of panic--"man down, man down!"-- when the three bikes I expected to see behind me became only 2.....

Thanks for sweeping. you did an awesome job.

The view from the front was equally awesome. I only got to see it after straight stretches of road, but it was a sight to see!!

I agree - I was 3rd and 4th from front most of the ride, and just had to rip off my glove to take a pic at one of the lights. Awesome ride!

No, bitch in the Caddy was on the way to breakfast after she honked at us for not just hauling out onto the road.

If I disappeared from view, it's because I was hanging back for one reason or another, but most likely cause I was enjoying the scenery to a rather chill song.

Agreed on the awesome site, seeing all of the bikes. We got major kudos from a woman in a Chrysler who was stopped next to us at a stoplight when we were just getting underway.

Understand the responsibility and stress that go along with the planning and execution of a group ride like this. More and more women keep showing up because of the success of these rides and the reputation of the leaders.

I'm not trying to discourage you from taking a group ride out to your destination, but if you want it to be a "Ladies Ride", I would send it along to one of the leading ladies who've gone through this type of endeavor a couple of times.

I remember seeing her...woman at 606 and Shaw Road. Had a huge smile on her face and gave a huge thumbs up!

Sarah,

if you want to plan a Ladies ride, I'd be more than happy to help with anything I can. Just let me know if you need anything.

Planning a group ride is a bitch, especially for us ladies, cause in all honesty we've relied on the men to lead the bigger groups. We are all just kind of feeling our way around and trying to figure out what works best for us.

I would love to see more women stepping up and pushing themselves to see what they are capable of doing. Some of you gals will make natural leaders and may find that you like it.

Hope to see more larger and smaller womens rides in the future.

Viki <--------- fucking scared that 20 womins might show up at my ride.
