weekend ride 1002.6 miles (long, pics) - August 19, 2007, 07:30 PM

Went to Boone, NC for the 30th annual Daniel Boone Rally. The Rally itself sucked! I have never been to one sooooo boring with soooo many old people. The reason for choosing this one over the some others was the location. Most of you know that Western NC has some of the best motorcycling in the country. We left on Friday morning around 8AM and grabbed the slab down to the BRP. The plan was to take the BRP almost to all the way to Boone. We did 261 miles of the 470.
Kim on the BRP (most pics are of her)

She thinks she's cool

Took about 9 hours with stops to make the 411 mile trip down. weather was about perfect. This was one of the few times I have made a trip with no rain.

Saturday was a blast! Kim had to have French Toast for breakfast. A Guy camping next to us told her about a place in town. "go down the hill to the light, turn right, go to the top of the hill thru the second light turn left" I missed it twice. I saw a nice looking place called the Dan'l Boone Inn. went in waited in line for a table, read about the local history. Kim read something saying "family style buffet" and what was on it. She thought for sure they would have a menu......WRONG. We sit, the server takes our drink order and returns with the drinks and the food.

eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, ham, biscuits, gravy, sweet biscuits. I thought it was great!

After breakfast we headed to Blowing Rock to ride 321 which is now becoming a 4 lane Turned off 321 toward rt90 to west. My bike decided to have trouble staying running, we made a pit stop to check things. I discovered a loose battery cable and after a quick look at the GPS we off for RT80 and the BRP(again).

80 wore Kim out! We stopped at an overlook for a rest a photo op.

Aren't they pretty?!

The rest of the day was spent riding 19E in to TN and winding back to Boone. This morning (Sunday) I woke up at 5AM bullshitted with some brit from KY packed and left. I left my camera in my topcase for the ride home. After having a near crash on US 221, Kim wanted her french toast. We found a resturant in Sparta, NC that was open and had good food. NC does not have the best food. Came out of the resturant to find this
Window window down and unlocked! Would see that around here. She requested we take the BRP back until we got to Roanoke when she heard from her kids and we had to break our plan and slab it home

Almost time new shoes

Damn chicken strips won't go away (she was tryin'too)

THE END!

That's a haul. Nice report!
