Brembo Brake Master Cylinder Question - July 15, 2012, 07:59 PM

Well its about time that I put one of these bad boys on the gixxer. It's strictly a track bike. What is the difference between the 19X20 and 19X18 brake master cylinder versions?

To make a comparison it's like changing gearing on the bike where you trade acceleration for top speed and number of gears you have change in a lap. With different pistons sizes in the master cylinder you trade brake feel for power and initial bite changes too. Can't honestly remember what the rules are, but I guess you can find that info online.

If I read correctly when I was researching this recently...

18 = Better feel

20 = more power

Both are used by racers and both are liked. Personal preference is what I read. I prefer feel. I have brembo MC & calipers on my duc and ktm. Amazing brakes is all I can say. That's on my list for the SV in the near future.

Hmmm makes sense. Thanks guys. Yeah I prefer feel as well. Especially since I'm so used to grabbing a handful with the current stock gixxer mc.

I have the 19x18 on both of my R1's and I love them. But, you should look into the RCS since you can switch to either.

That maybe why I have been seeing a large variation in pricing. What website is everyone using for their brembo mc needs?
