How to Stabilize Bike? - July 11, 2011, 06:15 PM

Well, I got the tool to take off the steering neck nut and finally took the nuts off. However, in order to get the triple off, I have to stabilize the bike and take off the front PitBul. I tried using a 1/2 ton jack with a small piece of wood in between under the oil pan since its the only flat spot on the K7 gixxer sixxer but the bike was coming off the rear stand and seemed unstable. I have jack stands but can't find a place to use them on. Does anyone have any tricks that might minimize the risk of me dropping the bike? Hit a brother up!

Anyway to hang the front from the ceiling? If not you can strap the swing arm to the pitbull and then weight it with something.

Thought about that but there is no available spots in the ceiling unless I decide to install anchor point to studs but its a rental garage so I don't want to make a mess. I am not sure what you mean by using the pitbull with the straps though.

^Man, that's exactly what I'm trying right now but for some reason jack is lifting the bike off only one side of the rear stand as well. I'm going to play with it a bit more. Thanks for the picture. That only shows that it is possible with a little effort

The front doesn't have any weight on it when the engine is there

^ I don't have frame sliders and no front or rear wheel What I'm afraid of is dropping the bike. If my back wasn't still injured I wouldn't worry since I could easily deadlift the bike but right now, it would just hurt me even more. I might need a second hand.
