You live more in five minutes on a bike like this going flat out than some people live in a lifetime.

I would say it is relative as much will depend on what you want, deductible, coverage, percentage they will cover before totalling, benefits etc and your record.

Some may have low deductibles that others won't offer because their lowest coverage is way higher, a good thing but if you are just looking for the now it isn't for you.

Some may have low deductible, have high coverage but will total at 40% of your value etc etc.

Look into everything, compare all the numbers and see which works out best for you and the risk you are willing to take.

I have used Farmers, progressive, all state currently with geico and each time depending on what bike, my driving record, and how much I wanted covered each one was the best fit at the time.

you should call and shop around... State Farm, Progressive, etc.

I found Progressive to be the cheapest. It probably varies from person to person. Geico was rediculously expensive when I got a quote from them.

Word. I don't think he lives in DC.

My car insurance doubled when I moved into the district. I didn't own a bike before though, but I would imagine it would be the same.

I got rid of my car before I got my bike. When I went to insure my bike in DC though, I had a really hard time. Some of the companies just refuse to do DC. Some of them won't insure you unless you do your bike and a car on the same policy. Some won't give you coverage if you've had a single ticket in the last year or so. I ended up going with Foremost, because they were cheap and they were one of the few that would insure me in my situation. I have an sv650, so it's not a 1000 or something, but they base it on displacement, I believe. I pay like $42 per month for liability and theft. I'm not sure what my coverage amounts are though.

I currently have Allstate. I used to have progressive and when I switched to Allstate I saved $50 dollars a month.
I have full coverage with a $500 deductable and my insurance is $100 a month. Keep in mind I'm 19 with one speeding ticket from December of 2008.
