Power Race Vs. 209's - September 23, 2009, 10:28 PM

Whats your take??

I cant really find any specials on the 209's, So it basically boils down to.. 209's for the mid 3's a set, or the power race 1 front 3 rears for $460 shipped..

I have 1 day at lightning, and 1 day at summit with the possibility of slipping in 1 more day, but I doubt it.t

what about tires for the track that do not require tire warmers. Were thinking about the Power ones?

I got longer life out of the 209GP (not GP-A or NTEC) then I did the Power Race. A buddy only got a day out of his Power Race rear on a K7 GSX-R 1000 at Beaver but he is also damn fast.

I get about three days out of my rear with the 3rd day being more keeping the tire from going completely off. I get about five days on the 209GP with a little tearing on the fifth day. I spent the better part of the fifth day nursing the rear.

Initial grip impressions have the 209GP having great feel with progressive break away. I leave black strips in plenty of corners but the tires don't protest at all and the bike is stable as a rock. Feel from the front is very good.

I'm running the PowerOne front and the PowerRace rear (the deal from STG). The powerone front is just amazing with feel. Almost a little too much but I just need to get used to it. The rear isn't as communacative as the 209 but there is plenty of grip there.

My pace is a quick Intermediate slow advanced (24s at main 35s at thunderbolt). Suspension settings are still all stock.

Edit: Bottom line is that you're not going to go wrong with either one and the difference comes down to preference not performance. Again the 209GPs last longer.

Nope. I am looking to give it a shot but I think that it's a bit out of my "league". I've heard great things about the 209GP-As so I'm going to give them a shot too after I burn through the rest of the Power Race rears.

Meh, it's a short life tire (from what I've heard) that is for sprint races and getting the most out of the tire for a short period of time. I'm a track day guy and I need to keep a balance of tire life and available grip.

If I ever decide to race then I may pick them up to get the "edge" but, alas, I'm just a trackday noob.

I want to do the power one front and race rear combo but I dont have warmers so I feel like I would be wasting the race rear
