q regarding Totalling and Salvage Titles - May 11, 2011, 12:47 PM

Hi:

I'm considering the offer to total my MC
and wonder what happens with the title,
if it's worth doing it with buyback
and how much a PITA the DMV would be
vs costs of a lawyer to straighten it out...

I just want to ride and not get F*****
by insurance, somehow...

If you're just worried about riding, let the bike go and take the check.

Yes you can buy it back cheap, but getting it back on the road legally is a pain in the ass, especially since you don't know what to do. Another option is to buy it back, but part it out. You could stand to make more money of the individual parts, than as a whole.

Good luck & Welcome.
