Exclamation Shinko tire???what's your rate on them - March 9, 2010, 07:17 AM

I'm looking to get tires for 03 cbr 600rr...two years ago I put shinko 009 raven on my brother 99 f4 and I like how they look on the bike! I ask him
how they feel and he said they were great but at the sametime he doesn't ride as crazy as or as much as i do.. I think he only but like 1900 miles on those tires since two year ago. So yeah I Want to put shinko tires on this bike.. What you guys think about them??

I had Shinko's on my GSX-R 750, not the best trackday tire due to the shape, but an excellent road tire with great grip and they last pretty long...plus you can't beat the price. I had the 005 Advance model, would definitely recommend them.
Shinko's are very popular for drag racers too.

Yea we sell those tires. I would not use them on the track. Good cheap tire for street. Also right now the have michelin tires on sale for a great price. Call ALI at 703-433-9195 and ask him what he can get you.

People tend to want a little more peace of mind when they are reliant on a contact patch the size of a deck of cards.

So most people spring for the big names, Dunlop, Michelin, Bridgestone, Metzler, Perelli, and more recently Contential. This doesnt mean the Shinko's arent capable tires.

I've got the Shinko's stleath tires on my GXSR1000 and I like them. You get good mileage and they stick good on the street. Now for the track I plan to get the ultra soft compound tires for that. Any other question just pm me and I be glad to help.

Shinko = extend your swing arm and corner pimp - NC rider out with us last year binned his taking an average turn on them. Great for straights not so nice in the turns in summer heat...can't imagine it would be better in the spring. Agree with zx6rfool.

I guess I am 5000 or 6000 miles into a set of 009's. The rear has about 2000 left the front maybe will last another rear but the sides seem to wear faster than the center. That may come from a secure feeling while cornering. Much better than the last set of Dunlops. Most of the miles on this set are commuting miles and they have retained their shape better than the dual compound RoadSmarts did.

I would not know a thing about how they perform at high speed in a straight line. On WV mountain roads they adhere well at 95 degrees and and 17 degrees as well as in the rain. They lack a little control on dirt roads that the D616 offered.

Bang for the buck these tires are hard to beat for the average street rider. $158 delivered to my door I will not hesitate to buy another set.

Well Space it sounds like you have a bit more time on the SHINKO's - I'll digress I have not ridden them myself. Might have just been the rider. They were a favorite of the riders who were riding the busa's in Raleigh last year. Mainly for cost and a local shop stock piled them for drag racing. I rode Pirelli's all last season and given the reduced prices of the 2CT's there is a good chance some Michelin's as well this season. Either way good luck finding what you want.

Older but well written research thread I just reviewed and its more info then I could find anywhere else.
