Hey Thomas, Chris here. Do what I did and just cut a portion or the top half of the front sprocket cover off then you'll be able to still use the bottom hole for the fairing bolt.

Awesome tips guys. I will get on this come Friday. Taking my fiancé to the airport, so I'm missing the MARRC TD

But that gives me time to get some loctite and safety wire, get the nut drilled and everything squared away ship shape. Is the safety wiring as simple as running it through and twisting it with pliers to tighten it up? Leave any slack at all? No such thing as a stupid question about maintenance, just people who are literally retarded about it.

That is the proper way. For non race groups, just wiring it taught to a fixed point is acceptable. I've seen race bikes with some pretty crappy wiring jobs though. Cheap safety wire pliers can be had at Harbor Freight.
