Question Tire Reco... '05 R1 - June 20, 2006, 05:12 PM

Hey guys... just looking for some input as to where to go and more importantly what tires to go with.
I have always had a good confident feeling running Bridgestones in the past.
My R1 is the first supersport that I have run with Dunlops. I have no real complaints, but they just never gave me that "run to the edge" kind'a confindence I've had in the past.

Any recomendations would be apprectiated... I've read good things about the new Conti Attacks, but I'd hate to be the test monkey.
Thanks guys

I know i heard the contis are supposed to be a bit on the hard side as far as sport bike tires go...... whether thats true or not i dont know, just what i was told. Im going to look into them when im due for tires, with the amount of commuting and long calm rides i do with the girlfriend i think ill be bettter off with something that will wear better as oppossed to something super sticky.

I ride on Dunlop GPA's 208 and I feel extremely confident on the street. I buy them used from racers. The edges won't be a perfect as the middle wil be. They last me near 3000 miles or so and can be found anywhere from 75-150 set.

Most will say go w/the Pilot Powers

You feel confident with any damn tire.

But for real I also have some 208s on the cbr I have and I can really feel the difference.

I haven't tried the 208s yet, but may when I turn the '06 R1 into a commuter... The Pilot powers are :tits: but I hear really good things about the new Pilot C2Ts as well.

Here's a link to some discussion about it: http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showt...ilot+power+c2t

Metzler Sportec M-1 or M-3, Dunlop Qualifier, Michelin Pilot Power, or Pirelli Diablo Corsa are all great tires.

I won 5st Place

I had Pilot Roads on my fjr and night and day from the stock Dunlop crap!
I have Pilot Powers on my gsxr and have no complaints they will out perform me. The previous owner had them scrubbed of about 1/8" to the edge so until I replace the tires people will think I can ride.

Pilot Powers or Diablo Corsas

The new Dunlops are supposed to be good but I have not tried those out.
