NESBA May 9 Trackday report..with my new BONK!! - May 13, 2010, 09:55 PM

Ok..here it goes...

For all you people who have known me for so long..Ive rocked my 2003 ZX6R 636 on da track. The memories will always be there...Clemsonjeeper and I on the infamous "Ghostride" through Turn 9..

Cornerworker: "HEY! You OK?!?!"
Me: "Yeah..I think so! Uh hey...."
Cornerworker: "Yeah?!"
Me: "Uh wheres my bike?!"
Cornerworker: "DUDE! Its on the tire wall! It kicked you off and kept going!"

Well -it has a new home...and I bought something else...

I am now the proud owner of a 2006 Suzuki GSXR-600 and I have to thank Kidcycle. Here is a pic when I picked it up..

MAD THANKS to Hollywood, BoomBoom929 and MRP Motorsports..Here it is now..

A little tender love and care...
  • Penske rear shock
  • Power Commander
  • Race-tech springs and valves
  • Rifleman's 1/5 throttle control
  • Paint by John Greer
First impressions - This bike is WAY different than the Kawasaki. Dry weight the bikes are about the same. The Suzuki definitely feels like it has a more aggressive seating stance. I missed the first session because I had to replace a cracked bracket. No big deal. The bike definitely turns in faster than the Kawasaki. Frikin turns in on a dime. I kept on either turning in too early or too late. Either way..I was screwing up my lines. Throttle response is great. The Kawi felt like it had more midrange. Also, the Kawi had a full exhaust with a custom map - this bike has a slip on (MRP did go through the map and cleaned it up). But really smooth! The brakes are a night and day difference. I touched the brakes and INSTANT ON! I kept on braking WAY TOO EARLY!!

Toward the end of the day, I started to smooth out. I really like the bike. Next year, maybe a full exhaust and a map. But for now..Just ride the damn thing and have fun! Oh, about the track. I like the new pavement as long as it lasts! In the morning, the track was definitely slick. The weather kept on playing games. Sun would come out one minute and hides the other but it warmed up in the afternoon.

About the track....
Turns 5,6,7 (the whole carousel thing) - tons of traction no matter where your line is! I definitely have a lot more confidence in turn 3. I kept on screwing up gong into turn 1. Kept on taking it WAY too early!

I just have to get used to the damn thing - but Im looking forward to it...

Oh yeah..Picked up a trailer...

From this:

A little paint and gladiator tracks from Lowes...
A little coin flooring (thanks Carnage!)
A little e-track
Put-bull trailer restraint system and...

The e-track I put on the wall and I'm putting another wheel chock in (pics soon)..

Im going to try this CCS THANG...

Again..and I cant say enough...

THANKS HOLLWOOD!
KIDCYCLE!
BOOMBOOM!
KENNY! (MRP)
