got the tachyon xc, looking for mount ideas - June 5, 2009, 12:38 PM

hey all,

i just purchased the tachyon xc camera. i was wondering if anyone had this already. i dont know how the general mount works. but i was looking to mount it to my gas tank for a view through my windscreen. plus less wind noise that way. anyone done this already or have some ideas for this?

thanks!

I have one as well. I am hunting down a mount for the tank. I got great vid while recording from the back of the bike. Just used the smooth base some velcro and some gorilla tape for extra safety on track.

u can also kill wind noise by disabling the mic or using tape and a very small peice of foam or cotton from a cotton ball or qtip

With the tachyon you don't need to worry about wind noise much at all since the mic is actually encased inside the camera body for it to become water proof. Hence the sound quality is horrible. I usually have it mounted on the rear of the bike and it only picks up the exhaust noise. Also, just get a cheap generic tank mount from ebay and call it a day. It works just fine.

It will shake quiet a bit. The velcro that it comes with is very strong as well but again you can see a bit of shaking. The tank mount is a lot more secure. Also, if you can find a suction mount that would make it even better since you can pretty much mount it anywhere but those are hard to find.

yea i guess the suction mount would be the way to go. but the problem i can see running into is getting the mount and then the camera isnt able to mount to the mount. if that makes any sence.

i dont know how the tank mount would work with the clips or mounts that the tachyon comes with.

does the tachyon xc have the little threaded hole in the bottom so you can screw it onto a different type of mount?

The tank mount works well for the tachyon xc and there are standard threads in the bottom of the mount for connections to other solutions. There are no threads on the bottom of the actual camera though.

The swivel mount that comes with the camera has the threads on it. There are no threads (screw hole) on the camera itself.
