GSXR 1000 Help... Starting!!! - February 17, 2010, 02:45 PM

So I crashed my bike sometime ago... Im trying to go started today to see if it turns on... in the crash the stator cover broke and the oil spilled... Got a new stator cover and oil for the bike....here is the question:

The rear mirrors, the entire head assembly, was damaged in the accident and all of the cable are disconnected from their parts. but none of the cable are damaged.. jsut he parts except the tachometer.

If i put the stator cover and oil... will the bike start with out the other parts connect besides the tachometer?

Thankxxxx

Id recommend dropping the oil pan. You dont want chunks of stator cover or road debris in your oil. Drop the pan, inspect, and clean, including the oil pickup. New filter also, but you were probably gonna do that anyway.

Good advice... got the new filter but had not though about dropping the pan to drain the rest... Thanxxx

let me know if you get overwhelmed with the huge pile of work ahead of you and you want to sell the bike as it sits!

I may have missed the details but...

'Doesn't start' is too ambiguous. Does it turn over?

Man, I can't tell you how many times I've dropped and crashed my bike. You shouldn't have a problem with it starting, but checking the oil pan is a great idea. I had the whole front end ripped off my bike in one of my accidents, just replaced the windscreen, fairing stay, and front cowl and you'd never know it was down by the way she runs.
