Columbus Day (Monday 10/10) dirt ride anyone? - September 27, 2016, 07:46 AM

I've got the day off Monday 10/10 for Columbus Day. Anyone else available? Taskers, Cove, whatever...

Interesting article on Columbus:
The Truth About Christopher Columbus

To this day,I have no rational idea why this country continues to - or even began - celebrating that human pile of fecal matter.

It is pretty strange. You've also got so many places named for him...

My understanding, and this is based on my upbringing in NY so I could be wrong, is that a collective of powerful Italian-American special interest groups were dissatisfied there was no Italian holidays or recognition.

We celebrate St. Patricks Day for the Irish and the Jewish received any number of recognized Holidays. They felt Italians were being left out and desired inclusion in the American fabric and recognition of their accomplishment through their own holiday, and thus lobbied Congress for Columbus Day.

"You couldn't pick a better person, huh?"

An imperialist, murderous, enslaver and rapist, part time pimp & pedophile, and a shitty navigator to boot who got lost on a voyage to India and ended up in the Caribbean, not America.

... so we celebrate him in America? Dafuq?

I'd be down for a some trail riding. I probably know one other who would be interested as well.
I'm unfamiliar with "cove", but Taskers (Peters Mill) would be good.

It looks like we'll be hitting the cove, which is just a bit past winchester in gore:
The Cove Campground

It's not too different from taskers.
