dang title - August 8, 2013, 03:57 PM

so as you guys may know im plating my 00 ktm 400 exc and i ran into an issue.

my dad bought the bike for me when i was 14 and he bought it from a guy who in TN who bought it from a guy in Nebraska and never transferred the title into his name.
so i think im stuck and cant do anything but is there any way to get the title in my name by a salvage title or is my only option to try and some how track the original owner?

Is it not signed by the original seller or something? If it is, just fill out your info in the buyer sections and go title it.

If it isn't, find a friend to sign it, not that I've ever done that or condone doing it.

If someone else has filled in their info as the buyer, well that sucks and is a bit more complicated.

If you have the title and it's not signed... just sign it and go to the DMV..

If you don't have the title, you have to basically fill out an abandoned vechicle form, where the DMV will try to contact the last known owner. If they say they sold it, the DMV can re-issue you a title. - Or something like that..

There is a way to get a title though.. might not be easy, or quick, and it might cost your $40 or so in fees
