Dual sport ride 8-24/25. - August 13, 2013, 10:41 AM

Well the trail has been scouted and is ready for next weekends ride. The details.

-Start- Edinburg BP Station 8-24 @ 9:30am. (Taskers exit)
-Pulling out- 10am
-Route- 100-140 miles of mostly fire roads and jeep trails
-Destination- Somewhere between Route 33 and Stanton
-Pace- Depends on group. No one will be left behind.
-Bike requirements- 250+cc DUAL SPORT motorcycles or SM with experienced rider.
-Supplies- Spare tubes for your bike and levers if you don't have
bark busters, Zip ties, tape, spark plug, jb quick weld ect.
-Tools- I will have tire spoons and co2 air supply as well as most tools BUT
you should have the tools required to remove your wheels.
-Camping- Depending on the number of riders. Some have showed interest
in getting a hotel room which is fine. I would like to camp if
anyone else is game.

So the plan is for me to lead the group and Adam run the back but we will trade off throughout the ride. If you decide to leave the ride TELL SOMEONE please. I don't want to spend hours searching for your body just to find out you decided to dip out. Please run your own pace, this isn't a race and we will wait at each intersection so no one gets left behind or lost.

Try to keep the shenanigans to a minimum on the asphalt. If you get pulled over it's on you because we will not be speeding as a group. When we hit the trails feel free to ride your wheelies and slide around all you want. We found a few spots to do some exploring and plan to stop and explore/rest along the way. If you get bored come on to the front and I'll give you something to chase.

Any comments or concerns need to be expressed before the day of the ride please. This is the first ride I've put on that isn't purely off road so yes I'm a noob. I would like it to go smoothly and for everyone to have a great time. If the group gets much bigger than 8 riders we will split them up into two groups.

If I get up in time I might come down on the SMT for a bit of the first day if that's cool. I have to be at work in Edinburg at 4pm so I'd probably split off somewhere down around rt 33, depending on your route.

There's bold riders and old riders, but damn few bold old riders.

It should at least look legal and have a tag of some kind. I highly doubt we will see any police as most of the roads are off the beaten path but if we do get pulled over it's on each rider to be able to prove they're legal.

What bike are you thinking of bringing?

Regardless of your skill level I will personally guarantee this will be a memorable ride and for good reasons not bad ones. The route is fun and won't disappoint.

You should join us with it (unless you have a shop to run or something silly like that).

Yeah, I have approval from the father-in-law. I just need to give it a once over.
