KTM RC8 1190 - October 31, 2008, 11:43 AM

I know its not out yet, but any opinions or anybody intend to buy this bike?
http://www.ktm-rc8.net/

Looks like it will compete with Ducati's 1098, Buell's 1125R and Aprilia RSV1000R for the 1000+cc V-twin racer market and definitely priced like an Aprilia since the retail is over $19,000. Personally if you can afford this KTM you might as well drop another $3000 and get a proven bike like the Aprilia RSV1000R which many consider the best of these. I'd rather just save $7000 and go with the American made 1125R, which is a damn fine bike for the money. Should be a hard sell even with KTM's growing popularity.

The whole while you can get the track tested 1098 for the same money (obviously not the 1098R)

I would love to see one up close and get a chance to ride a RC8 but it's the first production run and I'm never comfortable dropping that kinda cash on an unproven bike.

The Aprilia is not a proven bike. They are going to an RSV4 powerplant next year which is a V4 config. If I had the money, I would definitely buy the priller if only for the sound.

His comparo was with the Aprilia RSV1000R Factory which is a proven bike. Sad....the RSV1000 Factory is old technology and probably not worthy competition.

Obie Won Kenobi thinks the Aprilia is the best sportbike on the planet, this padewon won't argue the point. Yes, RSV4 is coming soon. http://www.aprilia.com

Soon? Maybe. Apparently the "production" RSV4 motor is regularly blowing up in testing and Aprilia has to figure out why, design and test a successful fix, then get production going. We can hope, thought

Doesn't matter, they will release it anyway. The 3rd year of this bike will be fantastic.

If any member would use a thread search they would see I started a thread on this bike months ago. And yes dodge did respond to it than. Cause we know how Mike is about KTM's. See thread link below.
