New Dirt, Bigger Track @ Colonial Beach - June 30, 2009, 10:28 AM

Last weekend we built a new, larger dirt section at Colonial Beach.
www.supermotojunkie.com/showthread.php?t=85411
With the new dirt section we also use a new track configuration that includes the 1/8 mile dragstrip & return road for a total track length of 1.3 miles.
Next race is Saturday, July 11th. Come out and play.

If you missed last Saturdays race you missed a great time. We had the best turnout ever. We had some fast boys from PA come down. The new layout worked wonderfully by the end of the day once we worked out some bugs with input from the racers.
We eliminated the dirt crossover and turned that part into a couple of straights w. a u-turn & a chicane. The total track length will be over 1.3 miles now, I didn't measure the additional length with the new layout. We also added chicanes 1/2 way down the strip (to keep people off of the limiters) & coming back the return road into the dirt (to keep from becoming another drag strip).
We made a layout on the infield for the mini's & scooters so they wouldn't need to negotiate the strip. their track is roughly 50 / 50 dirt & paved. The scooters bypass the dirt.
Fastest lap was 1:31, before I added the extra lengthwhen eliminating the dirt crossover, for the 1.3 mile track. Fastest speed measured was 82 MPH at the end of the strip, after I added the chicane to slow things down.
Everyone liked the dirt and I won't be doing any modifications until over the off season with it.
We have a great facility now, espcially when compared to what we have had up until now. Hopefully we'll see some of you at the August race- Saturday the 8th.
