Wicomico Hangover Hare - 1/5/14 - Plans - December 31, 2013, 06:25 PM

OK. So I'm all but ready to go. Now, what are the plans?

Who would be up for Saturday practice. (like noon-4ish.) It's $45 for the day. But I've been off my bike for nearly 2 months now. And Shamu need seat time.

Stay in a fleabag hotel down there? Or a little futher away form the track in a better hotel? (I'd vote for a better hotel, and yes Dodge, I can stay in a room by myself to keep from waking you with snoring. )

Adults scramble starts at noon. Which means we need to be there by 10 am to register, unload, dress, etc.

If nobody wants to practice Saturday, I can just drive my truck. If we do both days I can pull out my trailer to haul bikes. (Folks being hauled can donate for gas.)

OK. Who's going, what do they want to ride? Sat & Sun? Just Sun?

The Shamu-Hauler leaves from Ashburn.

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Might try this one... off 301 right before you turn to go to Wicomico. Like 15-20 10 minutes from track. Never stayed there, but used to pass it all the time.

^More like ten minutes, but there are no food options nearby if you need. There is a Holiday Inn express and some other stuff up at 301/6. About 20 minutes from Wicomico and next to food and stores. The parking lots are conducive for trailers, they frequently host folks in the area for all of the boating, mx, and drag race events.

I'm thinkng the 20 minute option is the best idea. The other one listed is the one we stayed at last time IIRC. It was....a bit scary. Of course there were 4 of us crammed in there, so that could be part of it.

I'm going. Even going to put on bark busters so I don't have to see the evil looks that Mud gives if you don't have them.

Definitely going to the race. Really should come out Saturday too since I haven't ridden since the HMT trip, but not sure if I can yet.

You are looking for 100-105 mm of sag in the rear when you assume "The Position".

I have a sagmaster thingy in the Batcave. What was the spring on the rear? I'm going to guess it is too soft for you. I can hunt around to see if I have anything. Not sure what I have that would match currently. Or you could call out to Dual Sport Armory in Winchester.

I'm guessing a 410 lb spring. Stock one. PO did nothing but put a skid plate and bark busters on. Should be ok for a while as I'm only 180lbs. The thing is a bitch, it says to remove the shock to adjust?!?

Dean I have a few springs heavier than stock if you want to try. My guess would be you would need around 7.4 in KTM speak.

Steve I am thinking about bringing my son to ride the kiddie track on Saturday. I could still carpool with ya and I would have no problems staying at the Thunderbird inn again.

I'm interested in riding on both Sat and Sunday, but I don't want to wear myself out too bad on Sat for the race on Sunday. You should just come to my place and run laps in the woods on Sat. It's about time I met the neighbors anyway.

I figure just to get use to the mx course and 1 or 2 laps in the woods to check it out.
