Talking Hog Wild - July 14, 2009, 09:18 AM

I had last week off and spent a couple of days on rented Harleys ($89/day M-F). Tuesday I rented the XR1200 because I thought it looked cool. It's a fun bike: comfortable, reasonably powerful, nimble, good brakes. The motor shakes a bit at low rpm but at 3K it goes dead smooth. I liked it but not $11.5K worth - if it cost 8 grand I would consider it. I did about 250 miles and had serious buttburn for the last 100. Wind protection would be nice but that might ruin the look, which I really like.

Friday was Road King day. I love this bike. 400 miles of Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway and backroads etc. I want one.

Skyline Drive

Blue Ridge Parkway, foggy.
