Super Duke discontinued? - January 6, 2010, 12:16 AM

In Cycle World, they list the SD-R cheaper than the standard SD and they mention it in the description:

Quote:
This is KTM's ultimate naked sportbike. Its intentions differ from those of both the SMR and the now-discontinued standard Super Duke. The SDR is a sportbike stripped down to the raw performance elements: lightweight, agile and fast. Powered by a 999cc, 75-degree V-Twin, the R makes more power than the standard version via headwork, a freer-flowing exhaust and a higher compression ratio. The chassis received the same kinds of performance upgrades with a 48mm inverted WP fork, a piggyback WP shock, a steering damper, radial-mount Brembo brakes and a lightweight chrome-moly steel frame.
anyone hear anything official?

That mag makes price errors from time to time. Nothing surprises me in this economic climate.

Looked around the net and did not find anything to confirm this. TYPO!

I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued it in the US. When the RC8s finally came here the dealership couldn't get one unless you put down a deposit in November. KTM street bikes just dont move, especially when you can get an R1 for $3k cheaper

Well with the price of a 690 Duke at 10,500 this year I am surprised they sold any. No freaking way would I spend that much on my bike. I got mine for 8,500 and that was close call for not doing it. I would bet the 690 Duke R will be 11,500 and most people will not spend that kind of money for a single. KTM needs to work on bringing that price down.

Dollar is down. Economy stinks. People won't pay 7k for a leftover D690 now.

At least we aren't one of the the dumbos sitting on a McMansion in a place like Ashburn staring at a "chopper" or other mid-life crisis. That "chopper" is worth 30% of what they paid for it. Now those idiots are 400k upside down and the spouse had to let the house cleaner go.

What's next? They can't afford the new LED TV and the kids must have an color coordinated Droid to match their vacant stare noted during counselor sessions.

Yipppeeeee.

those choppers are showing up on CL often for no money. The local Ironhorse dealer here is blowing out 30-40k choppers for 13-15k and still sitting on them.

California got hit pretty hard on the eco crisis as well. I bought my '08 SD brand new back in December for $8k. They even offered to pay half the shipping costs to get it down to Oahu for me.

those choppers are pointless. Very unpractical, all show, no go. Unless you build it yourself, I am not a fan of choppers. Its like paintings. No emotional attachment
