SuperDuke 1200 R Concept - April 12, 2012, 03:52 PM

Italian industrial designer Mirco Sapio has presented our colleagues from Motoblog.it with his own rendition of a pretty interesting concept bike, the SuperDuke 1200 R, based on chassis and engine of the oustanding KTM RC8. Mr.Sapio drew some inspiration from the KTM SuperDuke suries, and in fact the final outcome bears some resemblace the 2005-2006 SuperDuke 990. Actually, we detect some similarity with the current KTM 690 Duke Track racer too.

Whatever. They need to bring fucking bikes over here! I am sick of seeing all this and not seeing them in person for sale in the US.

I'm sure they'd be happy to sell RnR a franchise.

They already said they were bringing the 1190 adventure over and we have the RC8 so I'm sure they'll bring this over. I mean I hear ya, it sucks we don't get the small displacement bikes, but I feel like that's just because they don't sell over here. Americans are retarded and we don't have tiered licensing so all these morons go buy a 600 or liter bike to "learn on"(crash).

Maybe someday American riders will figure it out. Especially now that Honda and Yamaha have started putting some R&D and marketing into new small displacement bikes.

On a completely random side note...you guys can dyno tune a duke, right? I assume you've done yours?

Well they do sell all the 690's. Try to find one even used for sale. They bring in the 690 enduro and most are sold and then converted to SM.

I'm less concerned with power and more concerned with smoothing it out. Power isn't exactly the Duke's forte, but I've heard you can make it a lot smoother with a custom map.

Yes. When I got it, the previous owner already installed airbox, PC3, and TI Akras. But the on off was still rough. I had it custom mapped by my mechanic here and he did an amazing job.

It's amazingly smooth now compared to before.

You looking? I'm selling. Or just the Akras if you want them

I have to admit...I really do like the KTM bikes. I've been contemplating a new streetbike this year. (Picked up a beater bike for projects and to get back in the saddle.) I looked at the new bikes out there....nothing really caught my eye except the 250's. And that wouldn't be great for Fat Bastard. But this prototype....yeah. I like it. Enough to drop some coin on it.

Which means it will never make it into the US.

Nope, I was talking about my 690 Duke. Had a 950SM before this though. Do love the big KTM v-twins.

Mind sharing who the mechanic was? My super duke's on/off is still pretty rough.
