1971/72 Triumph TR6R (new project) - September 20, 2011, 01:39 PM

Just rescued a new project from a neglected home. Always wanted a triumph and this one fell into my lap. not sure which direction I am going to go with it but It needed some saving......

Got a battery and after a little "tickling" of the carb....it fired first kick and idled like a champion after sitting for 2 yrs.

Pulled off the skull grips, fringe, and weird mirrors and put on some new old stock 70's grips I had lying around from our excursion to the motorcycle graveyard last winter.

It needs a little work (stripped bolts ect.) before it can be streetable but I will probably ride it around the neighborhood tonight a bit if the weather allows.

Clubman bars, matte black the tank and side panels, lose the sissy bar,and sell the tail light to some emo kid as a necklace.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, itís like thisÖA herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

Yea I am probably going to go a bit more of a scrambler look than cafe....enduro tires, possibly a reverse cone muffler, superbike bars ect.

Make the first oil in frame scrambler I have ever seen.....thats what I envisioned when I saw the bike the first time.

I also dig the 21 inch front wheel laced up to the stock hub....looks sweet. I feel like I cant go wrong with this....

It does....and from what I hear they stop just fine....most of the naysayers dont take the time to set them up properly before passing judgment.

No

do not do this. While that works for beat CB's etc you have a golden opportunity here with the TR, do not waste it

no need for a full on restore. There is really only one option:

that's right..It's His bike:

style and simplicity with a story. You won't be parking it to yet another cafe club, that's for sure
