That bike has a pretty rare 4 into 1 header. Too bad the muffler is MIA. Simple builds look good. Don't paint the engine, unless powder coated it will most likely flake off, same for wheels. I know a little about CBs, I'll help with whatever.

1- don't go single seat only. Here is a chance to have your lady get on as well. make it a removable cowl. She'll look great on this bike redone. Plus you won't need to get a tourer and can get a tard.
2- rethink your color scheme. Putting aside your personal history and loyalties, I think the scheme is played out. Throw some flake in the paint and do it justice.
3 - clubman bars? you may be happier with a flat bar, and more unique
4 - get the cafe fairing and throw flake on there too

I don't think 550 will replace the need for a tourer, but point taken on the single seat
