Blushin's 1977 Harley Davidson Rebuild - January 9, 2011, 12:25 PM

hey all,

So in keeping my flh, i have decided to fix all the little things that are needed this winter and go ahead with a full tear down. i plan on changing seals, chain, cleaning, powder coating, checking out the heads and fixing the issue with the small amount of smoke and the ticking ( probably rings and pistons, and new lifters). the build by no means is going to be crazy, it will definitely be a budget build and will progress as i accumulate new parts.

Dave came over yesterday and started helping me with the tear down. after a couple trips to the store we finished up this morning, and the frame and swingarm and all the little parts are ready to go off to Figure Engineering in Manassass park for powder coating.

here is where we are starting yesterday morning at 10am

its comin along

gettin closer

and at 4pm here is where we ended up

now its off to the powder coaters and time to start checking some stuff out

ill update this thread as the build progresses.

the metal one with all the parts on it? from home depot, was like 15 bucks

the work bench is an old bowling alley lane from the 1950 that my dad and grandfather built, we have had it since it came out of the alley, makes an awesome work bench

oh he will, we have plenty of stories, the countershaft sprocket was a bitch to get off and i actually broke dave's really big socket wrench, snapped the end clean off, but other than that it was all good
